Tired of your glasses? It’s time to visit Matri Prerna Eye Hospital and get rid of them!
LASIK (Laser-Assisted in situ Keratomileusis) was introduced at Matri Prerna Eye Hospital in 2005 at par with rest of the country. A complete spectrum of refractive surgery including ICL(Implantable Collamer Lens) and Refractive lens exchange was available at MPEH since then, when such techniques were available only in Metro cities and Major Eye Institutions across the country.
Evidently this centre is fully equipped with the latest software for laser vision correction.
LASIK is a safe and time-tested technology performed around the world, with proven long term results. Customized LASIK corrects the refractive errors to achieve greater accuracy and provide the best vision depending on the thickness and contour of the patient’s cornea. It can correct myopia up to -9.00 D, hyperopia up to +6.00 D and astigmatism up to 6.00 D. Besides, it corrects the optical abnormality of the eye. It has the twin benefits of correcting spherical irregularity and maintaining the natural shape of the cornea.
LASIK surgery is a popular choice amongst masses both because of its aesthetic benefits as well as affordability.
Intra Ocular Surgeries
Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)
For patients who are not fit for LASIK either due to thin/abnormally shaped cornea or very high spectacle power, ICL is the suitable choice.
ICL corrects a higher degree of refractive error which is beyond the scope of laser treatment. Implantable contact lens is surgically placed between the iris and the natural crystalline lens through a tiny corneal opening.
- It can correct powers up to – 20 or even above.
- It is reversible.
- It maintains the natural optical properties of cornea
- Incidence of dry eye is less following ICL implantation as compared to LASIK or PRK.
Refractive lens exchange
In this procedure, the natural crystalline lens of the eye is replaced with an artificial Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) to achieve better focus. The surgical procedure is similar to cataract surgery. It is performed under local anesthesia.
The refractive surgery technology best suited for a patient depends on his or her age, job requirements, power to be corrected and the shape and size of their eye, especially the Cornea.
